Check Out My New Bag: Pretty in Pink

This bag may look familiar to some of you.  Yes,  it is Simplicity Pattern 2617- AGAIN.  If you missed my last version of this bag you can click HERE to see it.  I liked it so much I decided to make another one as a Christmas gift for a special young tween in my life.   I had the fabric on hand already because I was planning on turning this into a huge rag quilt for my daughter.  As you can see, that plan fell through.  I am glad to see that my fabric actually looks good pieced together.

Can I just say that I am SO proud of my little girl and so proud to introduce her sewing projects to you today.  In this post I will call her Sweet Pea.  Last year when I started to teach myself to sew, Sweet Pea also became interested in sewing.  Since then we have been on this exciting journey of learning to sew,  together.

Great Gift Idea for Your Crafty Loved One!

My husband has been asking me what I would like for my Birthday (coming up in a couple of days) and for Christmas.  I always have a hard time coming up with something when I am put on the spot like that!  He said he would like to get me some 'sewing' gift but that he would have no idea what to get!

The Kennedy Bag for the Sew Sweetness Bag Contest

I cannot even write this post fast enough!!  I am so excited to share this bag with you!  I found out about the Sew Sweetness Bag Contest back in November, but knew that I would not be able to work on it all until this week.  All entries have to be in by midnight PST.  So, the pressure was on!  After some late nights and lots of chocolate, (and probably a few more pounds), I am happy to say it is finished!!

Come Check Out My Latest Bag....Simplicity 2617

Simplicity 2617 Bag C by Gina's Craft Corner

I am so excited to show you my latest bag.  It's the first time I used a paper pattern to make a bag.  Usually I just follow instructions from someone's web site or I make up something myself.  My personality actually goes better with following a specific pattern.  Cut this...fold this...  I like order and organization so this works for me.

DIY Sign Made with Pinecones

Sign made from pinecones~Gina's Craft Corner

This will probably be my last pinecone craft.  I think I'm a little pineconed out and you may be too!!

I had this piece of wood laying around since summer.  I was trying to be 'creative' with it so it got a couple of coats of blue and yellow spray paint and I etched into it before the paint was dry with a screwdriver.  It looked pretty cool, but did not go with my decor.

I decided to wipe a little stain on it to give it a nice warm color.

I then rounded up my pinecones and sprayed the cones with a light coat of santa snow.  Once they were dry I arranged the letters where I wanted them and then hot glued them to the sign.

That is it!!  This is a super quick and super easy project.  Here is the sign in my living room.  I'm loving it!

How to Make a Christmas Ball Wreath with a Coat Hanger

How to Make a Christmas Ball Wreath w/ a Coat Hanger-Gina's Craft Corner

I have been wanting to make one of these weraths for soooooo long!  I finally purchased the balls and went for it.  I am very pleased with the results.  This would make a great hostess gift for that upcoming Christmas party.  This project went together in no time!  Here is what you'll need...

Materials:
Wire Coat Hanger
Hot Glue Gun
50 Shatterproof Ornaments or Glass Balls (I recommend the plastic-just as pretty and easier to store)
Pliers
Wire Cutters
Ribbon

Here is the coat hanger.  Just untwist the top.
I purchased this large package of ornaments from my local craft store.  There are probably 50 in this package.  It was the largest container of balls I could find.  These mixed packages are great because all the thinking is already done for me.

Use the pliers to straighten out any bumpy places...

until you have a nice circle like mine.

(Note: I've seen other tutorials where you leave the hanger hook alone and just make a circle with the bottom portion.  I wanted a bigger circle and I did not want to have to mess with hiding the hook.

Before you begin sliding the balls onto the wire, check to make sure the tops are secure.  This was the only style of ball (see picture below) that I could actually pull the top off of.  So, I hot glued it down.  For all the other balls I just went around the edge of the top with the glue just to make sure they would not fall off down the road.  This step is very important if you are using glass balls.

Begin sliding the balls on the wire in whatever order you would like.

Keep doing this until the wreath is full.

Once you have all your balls on you will then want to secure the ends like so... My husband had to do some wire cutting at this point and twisting with the pliers, but it all went pretty smoothly.  Just watch out for flying wire.

Here is what it looks like!  I'm loving it at this point, but it totally needs some ribbon to finish it off!

Grab some pretty wire ribbon and just weave it in and out of the balls.  I went around two times total.
