An Easy New Clutch Pattern and Photo Contest!

I love clutch patterns!  Don't you?  After working on a large handbag or tote, the idea of making something small is usually a welcomed relief.  So, when I came across a photo contest over on the blog Fabulous Home Sewn, I just had to try it!  If you would like to participate, guess what?  You still have time!  The contest ends on May 30th at midnight, so grab some of those fabric scraps I know you have lying around, and get stitchin'!  Now let's check out my clutch, shall we?! 

You have four pattern options to sew up for this contest.  I chose the Sunburst Clutch.  I was looking for something for my mom and this seemed to fit the bill.  She recently purchased an Iphone 6, so the bag she was using to carry around her phone was WAY too small.  Have you seen those monsters?  You probable have one (this is where I sit moping and secretly dream of having something other than a flip-phone......)  Ok, moving on!  :)

 It was fun to piece together the flap, as I had not pieced anything in a while.  The fabric I used for this clutch came from the scraps of a purse I recently made- my brand new CONCEAL AND CARRY purse!  The reveal is coming soon, so sign up to receive my e-mail so you don't miss THAT post! This chevron print in the blues, gray and neon is my FAVORITE new fabric.  I could pair it with so many different colors to satisfy any handbag lover who comes to my Etsy shop.  

This clutch has a magnetic snap, which is very easy to install.  Check out my tutorial if you need a little help, but Fenna does such an awesome job walking you through this pattern, that you probably will be just fine. 

The inside of this purse has a zipper too!  Great to hold your change or cash.  And check out the key ring!  If you have never installed a zipper, don't worry!  Fenna walks you through that as well.  I've come to LOVE putting in zippers and I'm sure you will too.  By the way, I think I accidentally made my zipper a little too small?  Maybe not, but it could have easily been bigger.  Also, ignore the blue dots!  I had already torn down my props and the sun was already down before I realized my marking pen was still showing up!  (how embarrassing...)  Oh well, you get the idea.  :)
